Our Level 1 Industrial Welding Course at Anvil Welding Instruction is designed to teach you essential welding skills that prepare you for a successful future in the welding industry.

What You’ll Learn In This Class

This course covers the essential welding processes and safety procedures necessary to produce code-approved welds and build your welding ability and skills:

  • SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) — “Stick” Welding
  • FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) — “Dual Shield/Inner Shield”
  • Oxy-Acetylene and Oxy-Fuel Cutting

Course Content & Objectives

  • Welding Safety and Instruction: Best practices and OSHA compliance.
  • Oxy-Acetylene Safety and Proper Use: Techniques for effective and safe cutting.
  • Equipment Setup: Arc and wire feed welding machine setup and maintenance.
  • Wire Feed Gas Selection: Advantages and disadvantages of various gases.
  • Welding Definitions and Symbols: Learn to read and interpret welding blueprints and symbols.
  • Electrode Designation and Storage: Proper handling to maintain quality welds.
  • Fillet Welds: How to properly execute and measure fillet welds.
  • Project Work: Multiple welding and cutting projects graded on a pass/fail basis to reinforce skills.
  • Final Project: Perform a single-pass fillet weld break test to demonstrate competency.

Certification & Testing

  • Your tuition includes one AWS/WABO certification test in your chosen welding position.
  • Additional certification tests are available upon request for an extra fee.

  • Notebook and writing utensils for note-taking
  • Positive attitude and commitment to learning

Attendance & Policies

  • Attendance is critical to your success. Tardiness, absences, or leaving early may require make-up hours or rescheduling.
  • Students absent for 3 or more days without notification may be terminated from the program.
  • Make-up hours are available based on class space and must be arranged with the school.
  • Tuition and fees must be paid before the start date.

Level 1- Intro To Welding Covers SMAW and FCAW on mild steel. Focus on flat, horizontal, and vertical welding. Certification included: 1 Test - AWS welding qualification test with WABO
